How Do I Join?

Nature of work...
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Explorer receives a minimum of 40 training hours in Basic Law Enforcement in an Explorer’s Academy.  An Explorer will also receive ongoing training throughout the year via in-service and out in the field (field trips).  Explorers demonstrate their learned skills while competing against other Explorer Programs throughout the County, State and/or Nation during training seminars. The Explorers most important job will be to use his/her learned skills to serve their community and its citizens in a positive manner.  Explorers must uphold high standards of discipline (paramilitary), respect, honor and dedication to excellence in all areas of their lives.

If you meet our requirements and would like to join the post you must first attend 5 weekly meetings after you have submitted your forms & application (below). Meetings are held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Each of your 5 meetings will be used to handle several administrative procedures required for your membership. On your 5th meeting an interview will be conducted with the post supervisors and advisors and you will either be granted or denied membership to the post.

Once accepted into the post, you will be issued an explorer bag, binder, and probationary uniform. You will then continue to wear the CLASS B uniform for the next 6 months. After your have been in the post for 6 months, then a review board will take place to see how you have done, Accepted or Denied full membership into the post. If accepted you will be given a Class A Uniform.

Meetings will be held on a regular basis, except on certain holidays. If you can not make it to a meeting be sure to contact your Sergeant or an Advisor.
